Situated in the municipality of Nacaome in the Valle Department of Honduras, the Agua Fria plant is located in a very favourable region with high sun exposure. Agua Fria is the first solar power plant constructed by Scatec Solar in Latin America.

Project development

Scatec Solar secured the Agua Fria project in the fourth quarter of 2014. The financial close was in December 2014.

Project Execution

The construction of the 60 MW power plant commenced in January 2015. Scatec Solar had the leading role for all EPC activities and was also responsible for managing the construction phase.

Operation and maintenance

Scatec Solar is the operator of the plant through an O&M service contract.

The realisation of the Agua Fria project is an important milestone for us, representing our first step into the very promising Latin American solar market
